Due to the high level of interest in our retreats and deep sea fishing trips, we compile a list of all applicants and pull names in random drawing. Everyone applying deserves the retreat opportunities.
When you leave the service, you are issued a DD214/215/NGB Form 22. We need a copy of that form. Please black out your SSN#. If you are still active, your active-duty card is sufficient. (Character of Service Discharge must show HONORABLE )
The Bio and photos of you are to assist us in preparing for your stay, and to help us put faces with names and branches of service. Please know your information will be kept private and will not be shared. We thank you for choosing our organization, for your Women Veteran’s Glamping event to enjoy what Maine has to offer.
Be ready to relax, enjoy and meet new veteran women sisters. Women Veteran's Glamping covers the lodging fees, food and activities of the event. SERVICE ANIMAL INFORMATION -We’re happy to welcome Certified Service Animals (dogs) to accompany their owners at our facility. This policy follows the guidelines set by the Department of Justice in the revised regulations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which were released on September 15, 2010. We want to ensure that everyone has a great experience while maintaining safety and respect for our property. Service animals are specially trained dogs that perform important tasks for individuals with disabilities.
Here are some examples of their amazing work:
• - Guiding individuals who are blind
• - Alerting those who are deaf
• - Helping with mobility by pulling wheelchairs
• - Assisting individuals during seizures
• - Reminding someone with a mental illness to take their medication
• - Calming individuals with PTSD during anxiety attacks It’s essential to understand that service animals are working companions, not pets. The tasks they perform must be directly related to the individual's disability.

*A Note on Comfort Animals* While dogs that provide emotional support are wonderful, they do not fall under the ADA definition of service animals. However, broader definitions for “assistance animals” exist under the Fair Housing Act and the Air Carrier Access Act, which might cover additional types of animals. If you have questions about local regulations, feel free to contact your State Attorney General's office.

*Keeping Everyone Safe* Service animals should be harnessed, leashed, or tethered unless this interferes with the animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents its use. If that’s the case, we ask that the individual maintain control of their dog through voice commands or other means. Our facility is committed to ensuring that service animals can accompany their owners in all public areas. For instance, service animals are welcome in assigned cabins & main house. However, there may be some specific areas, like main camp store and No Dogs on Beach or in water, where we need to exclude service animals to keep the environment sterile and safe. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! We look forward to providing a comfortable and welcoming space for everyone.
*Welcome to Our Retreat at Loon Haven Family Campground: Friendly Guidelines for Service Animals* We’re excited to have you and your service animal here with us! To ensure everyone has a great experience, please follow these friendly guidelines.
• *Feeding Your Service Animal:* Please feed your service animal away from the kitchen and dining areas. Outdoor spaces or designated lodging areas are great options! While you’re welcome to join us in the kitchen, we ask that service animals remain in living room.
• *Comfort and Control:* We know how important your service animal is to you. For everyone’s safety, please always keep your animal with you. If you need to step away, please don’t hand off your service animal to another person, as we can't take responsibility for the dog’s actions when it’s not with you.
• *Service Animal Criteria:* To make sure your service animal is a good fit for our retreat, please ensure they meet the following criteria:
• 1. Your animal should be well-behaved and friendly.
• 2. They must be non-aggressive and pose no danger to others.
• 3. You should always have control over your service animal while in public spaces.
• 4. Your animal should respond to basic commands like sit, heel, wait, down, and come, both on and off leash (if the leash is accidentally dropped).
• 5. Your service animal should feel relaxed and comfortable in various environments.
• 6. It's great if your animal doesn’t bark or make noise while in public areas.
• 7. When dining or in commercial spaces, your animal should remain under the table or lie down on a seat.
• 8. Please remember to provide all food and care for your animal; our staff is here to support you but cannot provide feeding or care.
• 9. Your animal should be well-trained around other animals. Remember that campground is open to public and we are on a huge pond with wildlife all around us.
• 10. Service animals should not be on any furniture, including beds and couches.
• 11. Bring your service animal's bedding, food, medications, and treats. Our linens and furnishings are not suitable for your pet's comfort.
• *A Friendly Reminder: * If your service animal does not meet these criteria, we’ll politely ask you to remove them from the premises. You’re always welcome to return without your animal. While we wish we could help, our staff cannot board or care for any animal that needs to be removed.
Attendance Selection Policy 2024
Women Veteran's Glamping offers retreats to women that are free from cost and safe female only environment. No males can be in attendance by design.
Repeat applicants (Glamping Alumni) will be moved to the bottom of the selection pool and used to fill slots, but not as a primary selection.
Previous glampers with history of breaking rules will be set aside. Previous derogatory actions result in the loss of their opportunity to attend another Glamping event. Upon reapplication, any denials will be explained by email to the applicant.
New Glamping applicants will be drawn at random.
Previous glampers that were chosen, but could not attend because of extenuating circumstances, i.e. broken bones, sickness, etc. will be put into the next Glamping event of their choice.
Glamping living accommodations are communal. There are few private rooms, glampers spend time cohabitating with other Glampers.
Glamping retreats are not ADA compliant. They are in the wilderness settings. In private Naples Campground- there is electricity and restrooms. All off grid old fashion O.D. Green Military Tenting will have you navigating wooded pathways to get to the bathhouse. A considerable amount of walking is required to participate fully in Glamping retreat events.
Because of these conditions, we cannot accommodate all disabilities. Please be prepared to be able to walk through wilderness trails or to go without electricity, as needed.
Departing before the end of a event. We know glamping is not for everyone. Should an attendee wish to leave the retreat before the scheduled end, know it is by your own transportation. Those requiring transportation to the airport will need to make their own arrangements for the unscheduled events. This does not apply to emergency situations.

We are working hard to the future of the WVG Retreat Centers complete build so that we will have our ADA lodging and events and activities. Patience while the building and plans all come together.
